Feather On A Sunbeam
Empty hours filled with waking dreams: of swimming in the sea and lakes of northern New South Wales, and of walking on beaches surrounded by golden people – my people – in the shadow of ‘a Concrete Christ’. Feather on a Sunbeam, and I’ve Never Been to Brazil, grew out of these musings.
One Set of Keys is a song about domestic violence and coercive control. It is my answer to the people who ask, with regards to the victims, “Why don’t they just leave?” I’m hoping to explain to those who have not learned from experience, just how hard it can be.
The murder of another black man by white police in America provoked a welcome and long overdue response: the birth of the Black Lives Matter movement. Let the Sun Shine In shares my belief that a better world is possible, if we choose to make it so.
As the US presidential election of 2020 approached we began, quietly, to hope that sanity would prevail, and that Joe Biden and Kamala Harris would win. Kamala is my point of light, added to the millions of others, that lit our way to victory.
It has been my overwhelming good fortune to work with the musicians who grace this recording. The fact that this project came together without a hitch is down to my friend and colleague, Darren Percival. I am grateful to you all, and send you my best wishes.

Songwoman
Through song, dance and spoken word Songwoman tells the sharp, funny and often harrowing story of three bi-racial siblings growing up in the United States of America in the 1960’s.
The youngest: the autistic and schizophrenic brother.
The middle child: a woman who migrates to Australia, a country struggling with its own racial history.
The eldest: the extraordinary, beautiful and gifted sister.
This dynamic show is powerful and unique with an original score, words and music by Gerianne Rudd.
